One Dead, Several Seriously Hurt After Car Runs Stop Sign In Bridgeport

One person was killed and numerous people injured in a two-vehicle early morning crash when a speeding vehicle ran a stop sign.

The crash took place in Fairfield County around 2:03 a.m., Tuesday, June 9, at the intersection of Brooks and Jane streets in Bridgeport.

According to police,  the crash involved a dark gray Honda Accord that was traveling northbound on Brooks Street at a high rate of speed, said Bridgeport Police Capt. Kevin Gilleran.

The vehicle did not stop for the stop sign at the intersection and struck a silver Honda Civic which was traveling westbound on Jane Street, Gilleran said.

There were several serious injuries to the occupants of both vehicles and one fatality, he said.

All were transported to Bridgeport Hospital.

The Bridgeport Police Accident Reconstruction Team has responded to conduct further investigation. They are being assisted by the Southern Fairfield County Traffic Unit.

The identification of the deceased and injured occupants is being held until notifications are made to family and next of kin.
